Understanding The History And Importance Of Hydroponics
Hydroponics and hydroponic gardens are said to be the garden of the future. Hydroponics can be defined as way of Growing Plants without soil. It has been proved that this can be done with water that is mixed with nutrients towards the seed roots, not only soil. Even though the word hydroponic comes from Latin and means working water, this technique is not connected only with water. There are many different types of hydroponics that can be used, for example you can find wicked systems, ebb & flow systems, selected drip systems, water pump driven drip systems.
The actual background and technology tha tis used in hyrdoponics has its roots more than 2,600 years ago, when it was believed that the first hyrdoponic garden was originated and used for the famous the Hanging Gardens of Babylon built by King Nebuchadnezzar. There is historical evidence to suggest this was indeed the first practical application of the hydroponics in history. Anyway, Dr. William Frederick Gericke was the first who carried out experiments where he grew tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, potatoes and later flowers and fruits. During World War World II hydroponics is used in order to provide vegetables for the soldiers where usual cultivation was impossible. Today, use of hydroponics is very usual and popular among individuals, farmers and companies, too, because many of them can see all the benefits that this technique is bringing.
People around the world can use the hydroponics method to grow a plant anywhere in the world, simply by using water, proper lighting, air, mineral salts and substrates. Since everything is done without the use of soil and you can find a whole range of options to use with your hydroponic garden. Compressed air will provide a plant carbon-dioxide it needs, salts are transformed by light, plus substrate – all of that will help a plant grow and be strong. Nutrients are very important for Hydroponic Grow, especially pH levels of nutritive solutions. Aeration is important for plant to breath and can help when too many nutrients are added. For plants grown indoors proper lighting must be provided.
For anyone who wants to grow plants using hydroponics, it is important to have all tools needed. Some of the necessary tools are: Seeds, a trey, some nutrients and some pH testing stripes, and for beginners also a manual. You may also need more tools such as an advanced watering system, grow lights, water heater, nutrient meter etc.
Even though many people think that this way of growing plants is artificial, it is more simple to implement and do than other gardening than they can imagine and it can produce even healthier plants. People also can grow plants indoors as well as outdoors, which depends in which climate they live and what kind of plant they want. For anyone looking to build a building Hydroponic garden can be very useful, but it can also be costly if you don’t have all the right resources in place. It is a widely adopted and growing trend overall and you will find that this is a great alternative way to have your own garden even if you don’t have the space to plant one.
