How come the leaves on my banana plant are not opening after 6 months?

It’s a type of banana plant that I bought at Home Depot (they call it a palm), and I have it indoors. It’s the common large indoor “palm” you see for sale. It grows single large leaves that sprout from the base. It’s grown and opened 5-6 new leaves just fine, but the 3 newest and largest leaves (the oldest of those 3 being 6 months old) are not opening, but are just remaining coiled up. What can I do to stimulate them to open?

First of all it sounds like a palm and not a Musa “banana” plant. if it has a rizome it might be a banana plant but if it has a regular root system its probably a palm tree. as for not opening that could be several issues, light, water, pot bound, ect. also some plants stop growing in winter and it might just not have started yet.
